Throwback Thursday- City High ft. Eve- Caramel

You can say I’m plain Jane, but it’s not the same - I ain’t into big names, but I like nice things… Such classic lyrics from a song few of us probably have on our iPod’s, but one all of us remember when your hear that delicious hook.  Even better than the chorus though, is when the second part of the song unfolds and the remixed beat drops at 2:02, this jam literally explodes, and you’re reminded of how much a raw talent Eve was.  You’ll know when you here it…I keep em mesmerized, listen to me closely, E-V-E- that’s how a thoroughbred’s supposed to be! Gang Gang Dance- Adult Goth

This song is a mix of so many genres I don’t even know how to classify it. It’s like Gang Gang went Bollywood Electronic Dance? I haven’t had a chance to sift through the album but across the board their album Eye Contact has been getting unanimous praise and a high rating on PitchFork. I’ll have to put it on my to-do for the weekend. All I know is this track is indulging and takes its own shape after the beat kicks in. Dark but inviting… Download link

The temperature’s about 88, hop in the water-plug just for old times sake…break to your crib, change your clothes once more cuz u’re invited to a bbq that’s startin at 4…Yo Vibeaddicts!  To kick off the official start of summer, I thought we’d bring you not just a hip hop classic, but the greatest ode to summer ever written. As a guy that appreciates solid references and memories, no one brings these out better than Will Smith in his 1991 school’s-out ANTHEM, “Summertime.”  Big Willy talks about every aspect of summer in such a descriptive and non-nonchalant way that it makes you feel like you’re 12 years old again, and that last school bell just rang…Guy’s out HUNTIN, and girls doing likewise…honkin at the honey in front of ya with the light eyes!  She turn around to see watchu beepin at, its like the summer’s a natural aphrodisiac! ~JMoney Download link

Martin Solveig – The Night Out

You may know French DJ Martin Solveig for his infamous hit “Hello” featuring Dragonette. Or “Herro” as my ‘very’ Asian friend Stella likes to say.  He’s able to put out killer tracks that works for everyone’s party playlist. Off the new album Smash he features some of the greatest party people in the music industry such as Dev, Kele from Bloc Party, and Thomas Mars from Phoenix. This track in particular has a fantastic twist on Phoenix that keeps the beat in your blood long after the song is over. Download link

Kid Massive & Peyton- A Little Louder

One thing that I absolutely LOVE about Kid Massive is his ability to crossover styles and make it work like it was just meant to be. His jams fade in and out of various house genres and just leaves you with an uplifting tune enabling you to jump on your feet and dance like no one’s watching. Take a closer look, Bob Sinclair, Avicii & many other artists drop Kid Massive on the regular. You probably wouldn’t know it cause you’re too busy making the dance floor move. Download link
